The academic city will start operating from 2030, but it will operate in stages: first certain infrastructure will be available and then new ones will be added. Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan said in a conversation with reporters on July 9."At the same time, I can't say whether there will be a re-location of universities to Academic City in 2029 or not," she added.Andreasyan said what kind of work is being discussed now and at what stage it should be carried out."First of all, it is necessary to form infrastructures. We are talking about roads, utilities and so on," the minister noted. She recalled the plans to commission a railroad station. There are also plans to build a stadium and a concert hall. She said that Academic City can accommodate up to 8 state and up to 8 interstate and private universities."The realization of the project may cost several trillion drams," the minister added.
