The Armenian government on Thursday approved the extension of the agreement with the US government on cooperation in countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. According to this agreement signed in Yerevan on May 2, the validity period of the umbrella agreement is extended for another seven years, until November 24, 2030, and it is effective from November 25, 2023, which will contribute to preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Under this agreement—and regardless of its termination, the Armenian government is obligated to continue to fulfill the obligations stipulated in Articles 6 and 7 of this agreement indefinitely, unless otherwise stipulated by an additional written agreement between the two parties. With this agreement, Armenia creates prerequisites for the fulfillment of a number of its international obligations in non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and export control of dual purpose raw materials, materials, equipment, technology, and services.
