Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a US congressional delegation led by Senator Roger Wicker. The PM welcomed these US Congress members’ visit to Armenia, and expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic development of Armenia-US relations. Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the Armenia-US strategic dialogue session recently held in Yerevan, and expressed a conviction that this bilateral cooperation will continue to develop and strengthen. The premier noted that the US provides effective assistance for the promotion of democratic reforms in Armenia, adding that the development of democracy is of strategic importance for the Armenian government. The interlocutors stressed the expansion and deepening of relations between Armenia and the US in political, economic, energy, and some other directions, and in this regard emphasized the need for an active inter-governmental and inter-parliamentary dialogue. The parties reflected also on the steps by the Armenian government toward the development of democratic institutions and the fight against corruption in the country. In addition, views were exchanged on the ongoing discussions on the peace treaty expected to be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Crossroads of Peace project of the Armenian government, the processes taking place in the region, and some other matters of mutual interest.
