More than 640,000 people in 19—out of 35—districts of India's northeastern state of Assam have been affected by floods caused by heavy monsoon rains, the regional government informed in its bulletin. The water level in the region's main Brahmaputra River and its tributaries is above the dangerous mark. The authorities state that the death toll as a result of floods and landslides caused by them in 2024 was 45 people. The government of the state of Assam has set up 72 temporary accommodation camps and 64 centers for distribution of aid. The servicemen of the ground forces and border guard forces, as well as the air force, are engaged in the rescue operations.
