Norway's decision to recognize Palestine as an independent state has come into force. This is noted in the statement by Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, which was posted as a press release on the website of the Norwegian government. "For more than 30 years, Norway has been one of the strongest advocates for a Palestinian state. Today, when Norway officially recognizes Palestine as a state, is a milestone in the relationship between Norway and Palestine," the press release stated. Currently, more than 140 of the 193 UN-member countries recognize the Palestinian state.
