Armenia’s railway communication with Georgia has been interrupted for at least a few days because of flooding following heavy rains, the South Caucasus Railway told ArmeniaSputnik. The company said that the railway line has been damaged because of the flooding. The extent of damage and when traffic will be restored is still unclear. Earlier it was reported that the Sanahin station had been divided into two parts, the bridge had been destroyed due the flooding. Two rivers in Armenia’s north have flooded surrounding villages and towns following heavy rains, killing at least one person and destroying roads and bridges. Several settlements have been cut off, hundreds have been evacuated. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has left for the disaster zone.
