News - Armenia, Azerbaijan parliament speakers meet in Geneva

A meeting of the speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, with the speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, was held Thursday, in Geneva, Switzerland, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the NA. The talk was held within the framework of the First Meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and by the mediation of this organization. Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier that Alen Simonyan and Sahiba Gafarova had met in Geneva also on March 22, and discussed the possible assistance by the parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the ongoing peace talks between the two countries. Simonyan is in Geneva to attend the preparatory committee meeting of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.
