Ecuador police seize more than 1.5 tons of cocaine

by Lilit May 8, 2024

The Ecuadorian police have seized more 1.5 tons of drugs in raids conducted in the west of the country. "Half a ton of cocaine, which was intended to be sent abroad, was seized in a warehouse in Guayaquil [city]. One person was arrested," the Ecuadorian police informed on X—formerly Twitter. During another raid, which was conducted a day ago in Guayas province, one ton of cocaine was seized, which the organizers of this drug trafficking network had planned to send to Bulgaria. Smugglers often use the territory of Ecuador to transport drugs from South America to other countries in the region, with the aim of sending them to Europe and the United States.
