During its chairmanship at the European Union (EU), Hungary will make efforts to resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was stated by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, at his joint news conference with the visiting Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, in Budapest. "We [i.e. Hungary] hope that during the EU chairmanship we will find additional opportunities to find ways to resolve conflicts between neighboring countries. We are looking forward to it, and therefore we have assured both sides, Armenia and Azerbaijan, of our readiness to contribute to the negotiations. We hope that the future peace treaty [between Armenia and Azerbaijan] will ensure a long-term stable peace between the two countries that deserve it," said the Hungarian FM.
