Joint Russia-Turkey monitoring center closing in Karabakh

by Lilit April 26, 2024

The closing ceremony of the joint Russian-Turkish monitoring center is taking place in Akna (Aghdam), Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani media report. This joint monitoring center was opened on January 30, 2021, within the framework of a memorandum between Turkey and Russia after the 44-day war in 2020. But in connection with the deportation of the entire Armenian population from Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19-20, 2023 and now the pulling out of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, it was decided to close this monitoring center as well.
