The chairman of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the German Bundestag, Toni Hofreiter, has expressed the opinion that the accession of a number of countries, including Armenia, to the European Union (EU) is in the interests of the security policy of the EU itself. This is noted in a statement issued by the Greens in the Bundestag, on X—formerly Twitter. "Becoming a member of the European Union stems from the interests of not only of Ukraine, the Balkan countries, Georgia, Armenia and the Republic of Moldova, but also from the interests of our own [i.e. the EU] security policy," wrote the aforesaid German MP.
