The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India introduced a light bulletproof vest of its own design, which was created using ceramic armor, DRDO informed on X—formerly Twitter. The new bulletproof vest was developed by the Defence Materials Stores and Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur. "DMSRDE, Kanpur has successfully developed indigenous light weight Bullet Proof Jacket( BPJ) for protection against highest threat level 6 of BIS," the statement said. In the design of this bulletproof vest, monolithic ceramic was used, "which can stop 6 7.62x54 API bullets," DRDO added. This bulletproof vest was successfully tested at the ballistic laboratory in Chandigarh city. It is planned that these bulletproof vests will soon begin to be supplied to the Indian armed forces. They will be exported, too.
