Laying a natural gas pipeline from Azerbaijan and Iran and buying natural gas from those countries is a very good option. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated this, speaking with reporters on Thursday. Simonyan added, however, that there were no such discussions going on. To the question whether Armenia can buy natural gas from Azerbaijan, he responded: "I am very positive about it. We need to discuss this matter. And in general, it is not the case that part of the [natural] gas we use now is not Azerbaijani." Simonyan expressed confidence that by contract, the natural gas that goes to Europe from Russia via Azerbaijan comes to Armenia as well. It should be noted that Europe, however, suspects Azerbaijan of presenting the aforesaid Russian natural gas as its own.
