State Department welcomes that Alma-Ata Declaration is agreed on as Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation basis

by Lilit April 24, 2024

The United States welcomes the start of the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, noted this at Wednesday’s Department press briefing—and referring to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statement on X—formerly Twitter. "We welcome the announcement that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed upon the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration as the basis for border delimitation between the two countries. This is an important step towards concluding a durable and dignified peace agreement," said Patel.
