John Ebner: Superpowers are planning the exodus of an entire nation from Karabakh

by Lilit Sept. 15, 2023

The international community, the superpowers are planning the exodus of an entire nation from Nagorno-Karabakh; that is the outcome being prepared. John Ebner, President of Christian Solidarity International (CSI) human rights organization, stated this during a press conference in Armenia on Friday. According to him, superpowers have removed the people's right to self-determination from the agenda. The US is talking about the simultaneous opening of the Lachin corridor and Aghdam road. But what will happen if those two roads are opened at the same time, taking into account the starvation in Nagorno-Karabakh? What will the people face? asked Ebner. He added that during the 44-day war in 2020, tens of thousands of people left Nagorno-Karabakh because there were no suitable conditions, but some of them later returned, thinking that it would be safe and they would be under the protection of Russian peacekeepers. But now that support from Russia is no longer there, and it is impossible to imagine that the people can return to Nagorno-Karabakh if it is under the leadership of Azerbaijan, said the CSI president. Today, the war is being waged in the diplomatic field in order to achieve the emigration of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. Recently, the representative of Azerbaijani president Aliyev stated that genocide may occur if separatist groups continue to hold their own people hostage; this is a threat of genocide. Moreover, the superpowers seem to support Azerbaijan, he said. John Ebner noted that the rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh need to be protected.
