The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement following a meeting of the Foreign Ministry board on the topic "On the promotion of Russian interests in the South Caucasus" held on 23 April. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, it was stressed that in order to "inflict a strategic defeat on Russia," "the collective West - following Ukraine - is seeking to destabilize the situation in other parts of the post-Soviet space, including the South Caucasus, to undermine the relations of alliance and partnership that bind Russia with the countries of the region, to destroy the existing mechanisms of collective security and economic partnership." It is noted that it is acknowledged that it is necessary to continue to pursue the full implementation of the trilateral agreements between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, including the agreement of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, the unblocking of transport communications in the region, and the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
