We cannot give up the sovereign territory of Armenia even if we want to. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during his meeting with the residents of Berkaber village of Tavush Province on Wednesday. "Because it is written in the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia that a decision on the matter of changing the territory of the Republic of Armenia can be made only through a referendum. If a topic arises to change something with something, government cannot do it, the National Assembly cannot do it. They can say: ‘let's hold a referendum on this matter,’" added Pashinyan. Also, the premier noted that the opposition is very important for a democratic state. "We respect, appreciate everyone. We do not agree with them on many issues, we consider that they are simply distorting when they say, ‘he [i.e. Pashinyan] is giving four villages of Tavush [to Azerbaijan].’ When was Ghizil Hajili village, Kherimili village in Tavush Province?" said the Armenian PM. Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday went to the border communities of Tavush for the second time this year. The previous meeting with the local residents did not go smoothly. The topic of the meeting was handing over four villages of Tavush Province to Azerbaijan, to which the locals expressed their opposition. Pashinyan told the villagers that those four villages must be handed over to Azerbaijan, otherwise a war will start. But the residents of the border communities of Tavush were not so dissatisfied with Wednesday's meeting.
