Armenia PM: Turkish army is 50 meters away from Margara village houses, our goal is to get such situation

by Lilit April 18, 2024

Turkey and the Turkish army is 50 meters away from the houses in Margara village of Armavir Province; our goal is to get such a situation. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a meeting with residents of the border settlements of Tavush Province on Wednesday. "Our request and expectation is to be with each other in this situation, to move forward by understanding everything step by step. I cannot say that your pessimism is unfounded; today's situation does not give any grounds for optimism. We need to move forward to build optimism," he added. Pashinyan agreed with the assertion of a villager that the Turks cannot be trusted. "You're right, and that's why we want to do all this. We want to create a paper that will already become a mutual obligation. If we do not do this, I can say 100 percent that we will not be able to provide security. As the process progresses, my optimism grows. If we don't go this way, we won't get anywhere, whereas this way we have a very big chance, and the more confidently we go, the greater the chance that we will get there," emphasized the Armenian PM. Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday went to the border communities of Tavush for the second time this year. The previous meeting with the local residents did not go smoothly. The topic of the meeting was handing over four villages of Tavush Province to Azerbaijan, to which the locals expressed their opposition. Pashinyan told the villagers that those four villages must be handed over to Azerbaijan, otherwise a war will start. But the residents of the border communities of Tavush were not so dissatisfied with Wednesday's meeting.
