Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly has welcomed the joining of the first expert from her country to the European Union civilian monitoring mission in Armenia (EUMA). “Returning from my trip last year [to Armenia], a key priority was to explore ways to ensure stability & security in the South Caucasus, including the respect of the territorial integrity of Armenia. We welcome the news of Alexander Grushevskiy as our first Canadian expert to EUMA,” Joly wrote on X—former Twitter. Earlier, the Political and Security Committee of the European Council of the EU had approved Canada's proposal to assist the EUMA. “Thrilled to welcome the first Canadian Expert, Alexander Grushevskiy, to the EUMA. Canada is the first Third Contributing State supporting the EU Mission to Armenia,” EUMA had said, in particular, on X. Canada is the first non-EU country to join the EUMA.
