Simon Harris, the new leader of the Fine Gael party, which is part of Ireland's coalition government, will become prime minister of the republic. The majority of deputies of the Irish parliament, whose session was broadcast live, voted in favor. The candidacy of Harris was supported by 88 deputies, 69 spoke against it. Thus, the 37-year-old politician will become the youngest prime minister in the history of the country. During the day Harris will meet with Irish President Michael Higgins and will be confirmed as head of government. He is also expected to reshuffle the cabinet.
