President of the European Commission of the European Union (EU), Ursula von der Leyen, welcomes Armenia's efforts towards democratic reforms, despite the challenges the country is facing. von der Leyen stated this in Brussels Friday, during the press conference on the margins of the EU-US-Armenia tripartite meeting in the Belgian capital city. She reaffirmed that the EU will continue to assist, through advice, technical assistance, and funding, the ongoing reforms in Armenia. Von der Leyen added that they do not forget the plight of displaced Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians. The humanitarian situation of refugees in Armenia remains a priority. The EU has provided more than 30 million euros to assist them and is ready to do more, she noted, expressing her joy that they can count on the United States as a loyal and like-minded partner in this effort. They will all continue to work together for the future of Armenia in a stable and prosperous South Caucasus region, concluded the European Commission President.
