Such comments are unacceptable. Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, stated this, speaking with reporters Thursday, and commenting on the Azerbaijan president’s statement—in a telephone conversation with the US Secretary of State—that if Friday’s meeting between the Armenian PM, the EU European Commission President, and US Secretary of State is not postponed, it may cause instability in the region. Kostanyan noted that it is Armenia's sovereign right to develop cooperation with partners, including the US and the EU. "Those states or parties that are against our cooperation in this format are trying to create higher expectations in the media area than can be obtained by the results of tomorrow's meeting," Kostanyan said. According to him, this is done in order to cause disappointment among the public. "Tomorrow will be a respectable meeting, the results of which will be announced. The agenda has already been presented by the [Armenian] Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the meeting, mostly economic and humanitarian issues will be discussed," added the Armenian deputy FM.
