According to the results of the city council elections held in Glendale, California, USA, Elen Asatryan was elected mayor. This is noted in a statement released by the East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD). As the first female candidate, Asatryan had received the most votes in the city council in 2022. This time, she became the first American Armenian woman to hold the position of mayor of Glendale, the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County. “Nothing significant comes easily. This win required teamwork & perseverance. We thank Councilmembers Ardy Kassakhian & outgoing mayor Dan Brotman for doing the right thing,” EAPD noted on Facebook, adding that this was a success, and all residents and stakeholders can be proud that it reflects fairness and inclusion.
