News - Israel airstrike kills 7 international organization workers in Gaza

Citizens from Australia, the UK, and Poland were among the seven people working for World Central Kitchen (WCK) who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Monday, the NGO said, Reuters reported. The workers, who included Palestinians and two US-Canadian citizens, were traveling in two WCK-marked armored vehicles and another vehicle, the WCK said in a statement. Despite coordinating the movement with the Israel Defense Forces, this convoy was attacked after leaving a depot in Deir al-Balah to unload more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid shipped to Gaza by sea. “This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable,” said WCK CEO Erin Gore. For its part, the Israeli army said it was conducting a thorough review at the highest level to understand the circumstances of the incident and promised an investigation by an independent, professional, and expert body.
