The resolution of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA) contains wordings that are consistent with the views of the Armenian side. This was stated by Maria Karapetyan, head of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia delegation to the Euronest PA and an MP of Armenia’s ruling Civil Pact Party, during a press briefing in the NA on Thursday. Karapetyan quoted from the aforesaid resolution. Accordingly, the Euronest PA encourages the completion—as soon as possible—of the settlement process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which will establish interstate relations based on the norms and principles of international law—and first and foremost, on the recognition of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Also, the Euronest PA welcomes the decision of the Armenian government to strengthen Armenia's relations with the EU, and urges the latter’s organizations to develop specific proposals on how to respond to Armenia's European aspirations. In addition, the Euronest PA calls on the EU to actively engage Armenia and Azerbaijan in the reconciliation process, to ensure a stable peace treaty that will be acceptable to both sides, and emphasizes that every violation of the ceasefire or provocative speech contributes to the deterioration of the reconciliation environment.
