News - Rosatom Service head responds to Azerbaijan criticism of Armenia nuclear plant

Safety is the highest priority while doing all operations. Evgeny Salkov. General Director of Rosatom Service company, told this to reporters within the framework of the ATOMEXPO-2024 International Forum in Sochi, Russia, the Armenian News- NEWS.am correspondent reported. "All the work being carried out within the framework of the double extension of the operation period are aimed at ensuring the safety and efficient operation of the nuclear power plant. All scientific organizations and regulatory bodies will monitor this," added Salkov, reflecting on the work toward extending the operation period of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). Recently, the Azerbaijani media reported that a group of unspecified Azerbaijani NGOs petitioned to the first-ever  Nuclear Energy Summit that was held in Brussels, demanding immediate shutting down of the ANPP. This demand, however, has nothing to do with reality and the assessments of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts regarding the safety of the ANPP.
