Scaring one's own population is hardly the best way to achieve a favorable result for Armenia. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA), stated this in a press briefing Wednesday—and commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that if the Armenian side refuses to discuss border delimitation and demarcation issues with Azerbaijan, then war may start at the end of the week. "These matters need to be resolved calmly, constructively, there is a mechanism for this; it is the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation commission. We [i.e. Russia] are ready to help with this work, taking into account our experience. Within the framework of this structure, work should be done on the basis of the above-mentioned principles," said Zakharova. According to her, what the Armenian PM stated should not be associated with Russia in any way, and it was decided solely by the Armenian leadership in communicating with the West. "I would like solely those who make those decisions in Yerevan to take responsibility for the steps they took under the influence of the West," said Zakharova, noting that the Russian side informed about it, including through bilateral channels.
