News - Armenia's Pashinyan: I presented Crossroads of Peace project, proposal for mirror withdrawal of troops to Stoltenberg

I presented to the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the Armenian government's vision and approaches to establish stability and peace in the South Caucasus. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this during his joint press conference with Stoltenberg in Yerevan Tuesday. "I reaffirm my repeatedly voiced willingness to normalize relations with Azerbaijan on the basis of the three principles agreed at the highest level. That is, recognizing each other's territorial integrity on the basis of the Alma Ata declaration [of 1991]; in accordance with the Alma-Ata declaration, the delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan interstate border to restore the border between the two republics that existed at the time of the collapse of the USSR in 1991; as well as the unblocking of regional infrastructures, respecting—based on the principles of equality and reciprocity—the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries of their passage. In relation to the latter, I presented also the Crossroads of Peace project that completes our ideas on the subject. We expect the firm support of the international community, including NATO, to the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of known and mutually agreed upon principles, as well as the unequivocal rejection of the policy of coercion and threat. I presented also to the [NATO] General Secretary the proposals for the simultaneous withdrawal of troops from the 1991 Armenia-Azerbaijan border line, mutual control of weapons, and the signing of a non-aggression pact, which have not received a positive response from Baku to date," the Armenian PM added.
