If the government does not fulfill its program approved in the NA, it must be changed, the political majority must come with a new program, say: "A new situation has been created, we must leave the CSTO." Opposition MP Armen Rustamyan stated this, addressing Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during Friday’s discussions of the report on the progress and results of the 2023 implementation of the 2021-2026 program of the Armenian government at the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA)—and referring to the fact that it is written in the government's program that Armenia should be engaged in the CSTO, but in fact it has frozen its membership in this organization. In response, Mirzoyan first assured that Armenia made very active efforts to have the minimal mutually acceptable wording with its CSTO partners, by which the CSTO was obligated to address what happened with Armenia, and then he added as follows, in particular: "Ultimately, we have seen that the efforts did not bring results. You say that in that case, the government should resign. In this case, I should react more as a representative of the political team. Mr. Rustamyan, you are continuously looking for various ways how this government should resign and change. I can show in a friendly way the only legal, legitimate way to change the government. It is the NA elections, with all the mechanisms provided by the constitution."
