News - Stoltenberg: NATO sought to maintain stronger relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan

The changing security environment has had a significant impact on NATO's partners in the South Caucasus. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's 2023 report states which he presented to the media at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The report notes that through the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, Javier Colomin, NATO continues to actively engage with heads of state and ministers, diplomats, and civil society in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. "NATO has expressed support for the territorial integrity, political independence and sovereignty of each of these three partners. NATO encouraged Armenia and Azerbaijan to engage constructively in various formats and emphasized the importance of addressing humanitarian issues. NATO also sought to maintain stronger partnerships with Armenia and Azerbaijan through the development of individual partnership programs," the report said.
