The commission has worked for a long time on the concept of the constitution, and at the moment the concept of the constitution is ready. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at his press conference today. "I got familiarized with the concept of the constitution, as a result of which I came to the conclusion that the Republic of Armenia needs a new constitution. The constitutional referendum was supposed to take place back in February 2020, but it was postponed due to the covid pandemic. However, the current concept of changes in the [current] constitution [of Armenia] is no longer relevant. There is currently no new concept of the constitution; there is no text, there are only conversations on that topic and a political agenda that I propose. When will the referendum on the new constitution take place? When we and our political team, all together, sense that the people of the Republic of Armenia are sufficiently ready for it," Pashinyan said.
