News - Pashinyan comments on returning of Azerbaijan soldier who crossed into Armenia border

There has been an arrangement between Armenia and Azerbaijan for a long time, according to which a lost serviceman who has ended up in the adversary's territory should be returned in a short period of time. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at his press conference today—and answering the question why the Azerbaijani soldier who was recently gotten lost and entered Armenia was returned to Azerbaijan without demanding any Armenian prisoners of war in return. "That arrangement was violated between the parties until 2018, and then, and rather, not the arrangement was violated, but its perception; the [two] parties had different perceptions of the situation. In the case of servicemen or simply [ordinary] citizens who got lost, deliberately violated the border, committed this or that act which are criminally punishable, naturally, problems have arisen to resolve this matter. We have reconfirmed the [aforesaid] arrangement with the president of Azerbaijan that if someone has gotten lost, they will return him if he has not committed a criminally punishable act," Pashinyan said. Also, the Armenian premier assured that daily work is being done regarding the Armenian captives being held in Azerbaijan.
