India PM pledges to expand women's rights on occasion of International Women's Day

by Lilit March 8, 2024

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to empower Indian women. He noted about this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of International Women's Day. "We salute the strength, courage, and resilience of women and appreciate their achievements in various fields,” Modi wrote on X—former Twitter. "Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, and other domains." Also, Modi noted the achievements in these domains over the past decade. International Women's Day is marked in India, but it is not an official holiday in the country.
