Within the framework of its official visit to Estonia, the delegation led by the speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna. The parties confirmed the existing warm interstate relations between Armenia and Estonia, which are based on shared democratic values, the NA informs. At the beginning of the conversation, the current security situation in the South Caucasus was discussed. Simonyan noted that Armenia is committed to the agenda of establishing peace in the region and presented the process of Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations. “Regional communications should operate according to the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity. Border delimitation and demarcation should be carried out on the basis of the Alma Ata declaration [of 1991],” underscored. The Estonian FM, for his part, lauded Armenia’s commitment to the peace agenda. “Armenia is a friendly country for us. Estonia is ready to support Armenia in every possible way in establishing peace and security in the region,” said Tsahkna. A number of matters regarding the development of Armenia-Estonia, Armenia-EU relations, as well as the situation in Eastern Europe, were discussed as well.
