Armenia will open a diplomatic mission in Cyprus. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this at a joint press conference with his visiting Cypriot colleague, Constantinos Kombos, in Yerevan Thursday. Stating that the relations between the two countries are based on a long history of warm and brotherly relations and mutual understanding, the Armenian FM noted their rich bilateral agenda. Also, Mirzoyan thanked Cyprus for its support to Armenia in all sensitive issues, including territorial integrity, assistance to Armenian refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, and organizing the treatment for 30 Armenians in Cyprus. And based on the abovementioned, a decision was made to open a diplomatic mission of Armenia in Cyprus. This will happen in the near future and will further strengthen Armenian-Cypriot relations. The Armenian FM pointed also to the high level of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, as well as within the European Union (EU). In this regard, Mirzoyan reminded that Armenia is deepening its relations with the EU, and in parallel with the current Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, the search for new instruments is underway. "Several instruments have been publicly discussed; including the liberalization of the visa regime," added the Armenian FM. The Cypriot FM, for his part, fully agreed with his Armenian counterpart's assessment of the high level of relations. Also, he thanked Armenia for its stance on the Cyprus issue, and confirmed the readiness of Cyprus to contribute to the deepening of Armenia-EU relations, economic and political events that will bring Armenia closer to the EU. And at the end of the joint press conference, Constantinos Kombos invited Ararat Mirzoyan to visit Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.
