We have been expressing our position regarding the CSTO for a long time. We expect the CSTO to recognize the border of its responsibility; that is, the recognized 29,800-square-kilometer territory of Armenia, as well as the borders that exist with Georgia, Turkey, Iran, and Azerbaijan. Unless the CSTO recognizes, this issue remains up in the air. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, told this to reporters at the National Assembly Wednesday. To the remark that the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is still not clear; in particular, Azerbaijan has occupied an area of 200 square kilometers from the sovereign territory of Armenia, Grigoryan responded as follows: "How do we know that Azerbaijan has occupied the territory you mentioned? Because there is a border. According to the Alma Ata declaration [of 1991], the administrative border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which existed during the USSR era, became an interstate border after declaring independence. That border exists, we have to go and reproduce that border. Armenia is a member of the CSTO, and the CSTO should definitely address this matter."
