News - Gevorg Papoyan submits petition to give up seat in Armenia parliament

According to Article 155.1 of the Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, NA lawmaker Gevorg Papoyan on Monday submitted his letter of resignation in this capacity, the NA informs. Pursuant to Article 155.2 of the Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the NA, if an MP takes back her/his resignation letter within one week after its submission, the NA speaker makes a respective statement. But if the lawmaker does not take back her/his resignation letter within one week after its submission, a protocol is compiled on suspension of her/his parliamentary powers, which the NA speaker signs and issues. The resignation letter is considered accepted after the issuance of the aforesaid protocol. To note, Gevorg Papoyan will be appointed Minister of Economy.
