News - Sebastien Lecornu: There are economic problems with doubling production of French weapons for Ukraine

By Aram Danielyan There are economic problems in terms of doubling or even tripling the production of French weapons for Ukraine; we must discuss it within the EU. French Minister for the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, stated this in a joint press briefing with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan in Yerevan on Friday. "The economic component is important in terms of assistance to Ukraine. We [i.e. France] have doubled the production of the [French-made] Mistral air defense system, and the same should be true for long-range missiles. [French military] assistance was provided to Ukraine also in the form of personnel training. In addition, assistance will be provided to Kyiv in terms of weapon modernization," the French defense minister noted. Also, he pointed to the importance of reviewing the entire European model in order to ensure collective security. "We are working in France to rebuild our missiles and introduce new weapons that will better protect our skies," Lecornu concluded.
