The Biden administration’s senior official who coordinates US relations with Europe and Eurasia, on Tuesday commented on the latest military escalation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. “I think the tensions now just point to the importance of more diplomacy, but I don’t want to speculate on any particular recent action, so we’ll just continue the path of trying to bring the parties together,” James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, told the Azerbaijani Turan news agency correspondent at Tuesday’s special briefing of the US Department of State. O'Brien spoke to reporters before leaving for Europe, accompanying US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who will attend the Munich Security Conference. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also are expected to attend this event. O'Brien, however, did not answer Turan's question about whether there is a chance of specific meetings in Munich. In early Tuesday morning, Azerbaijan launched another military aggression on the border with Armenia. As a result, four Armenian servicemen were killed and one was wounded.
