Hyundai making 2 electric pickup trucks

by Lilit Feb. 13, 2024

The names of two new Hyundai electric pickups have been revealed. According to Australian Drive.com, in late 2023, the South Korean automaker registered the Ioniq T7 and Ioniq T10 brands. The Ioniq in the name indicates that the model will be electric, and the index indicates its position in the line. If these names really apply to pickup trucks, the Ioniq T10 will become the leader, reports Motor.ru. The Ioniq T7 and Ioniq T10 trademark application has been filed in Australia, but that market will not be the primary market for electric pickup trucks. The Ioniq T10 is expected in the US. It is expected to be a full-size model, similar in size to the Ford F-150 and GMC Sierra. In turn, the Ioniq T7 will be mid-sized like the Chevrolet Colorado, or compact like the Santa Cruz. Most likely, both pickups will have a dual-motor installation and all-wheel drive, but a version with one electric motor and rear-wheel drive is not excluded. These Hyundai electric pickup trucks may go on sale in 2025 or 2026. Kia is also developing electric pickups. There are few details about them yet, as they won't hit the market until 2027. The company's strategy calls for about 80 percent of electric car sales to come from North America, Europe, South Korea, and China by 2030. The South Korean automaker, however, also does not give up fuel models. A frame-based diesel pickup truck based on the Mohave SUV is getting ready for launch. The name Tasman is predicted for it, whose main market will be Australia. But there, this new pickup truck will have to compete with the Toyota Hilux and the Ford Ranger.
