The Kremlin has called for restraint due to the latest military incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Interfax reported. "Of course, these are alarming news coming from the line of contact,” said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president. “We [i.e., Russia] call on both sides to exercise restraint in order to refrain from any actions that the other side may consider provocative." "We will follow very closely, we will continue our contacts with both sides," Peskov added. And to the reporters' question whether this latest incident with casualties in the conflict zone will put at risk the prospects of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the official representative of the Kremlin responded: "Such incidents, at least, do not contribute to the peace treaty. But we hope that this [peace] process will continue." Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that starting at 5:30am on Tuesday, the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire—from small arms—in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Nerkin Hand village sector in Syunik Province. As a result, the Armenian side has four casualties and one wounded. Shooting stopped as of 9:30am.
