News - Volkswagen creates cabriolet for Brazil president

German car manufacturer Volkswagen has turned a budget sedan into a cabriolet for the president of Brazil, reports Motor.ru. In fact, the same model is sold under different names in South America, India, and China. The Brazilian-made model for the Brazilian president is known as the Volkswagen Virtus. It has an exclusive open modification; the cabriolet based on the budget model was built by the specialists of the Volkswagen plant—and in connection with the visit of the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, to this enterprise. The project was the result of the work of three dozen workers at the Volkswagen plant in Sao Bernardo do Campo. The quirky open-top Virtus was the fifth Volkswagen to be modified for presidential visits in Brazil. The Fusca became a convertible in 1959, the Beetle—in 1993, the Polo Sedan—in 2003, and the Fox—in 2005. The President of Brazil toured the aforesaid plant sitting in the back seat of this convertible, and after the ride, the car went to the museum of this Volkswagen plant.
