The welcoming ceremony dedicated to the membership of Armenia as the 124th signatory of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) was held Thursday at the ICC. At the launch of the ceremony, in the presence of the President of the International Criminal Court Piotr Hofmanski and the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the ICC Paivi Kaukoranta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held the ceremony of raising the national flag of Armenia, the latter’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Also within the framework of the ceremony, ICC President Piotr Hofmanski handed a copy of the special edition of the Rome Statute to FM Mirzoyan. The ceremony was attended also by the Prosecutor General of the ICC, a number of representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in The Hague, from about 60 diplomatic representations, the President of the Association of Journalists, as well as some other guests. The Rome Statute has officially entered into force for Armenia on February 1. Armenia has become the 124th State Party of the ICC. On October 3, 2023, the Armenian parliament ratified the Rome Statute, with only 60 votes by the ruling majority faction, President Vahagn Khachatryan signed it on October 14, after which the Minister of Foreign Affairs informed the ICC about it.
