We welcome any contacts that will contribute to the strengthening of the peace process. Gevorg Papoyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction, stated this during Wednesday’s press briefings at the National Assembly of Armenia—and referring to the news about a possible meeting between the parliament speakers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future. "I know what it is about; it is within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Also, as far as I'm aware, we [i.e. Armenia] don't see such a problem by and large. We obviously don't discourage, but welcome any contact that will contribute to the strengthening of the peace process—if it will. And as for what will happen, I think we should wait a little bit," Papoyan said.
