News - UN Secretary General appoints independent evaluation panel to assess UNRWA activities

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed an independent panel to assess the performance of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The statement released by the office of the Secretary General states.  According to the statement, the independent panel will be headed by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna. "The Secretary-General, in consultation with UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini, has appointed an independent review panel to assess whether the agency is doing everything within its mandate to ensure neutrality and to respond to allegations of serious violations," the statement says.
