US President Joe Biden will host German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the White House on February 9 in an attempt to gain support for additional aid to Ukraine, the White House has said. It is noted that both leaders will reaffirm "their strong support for Ukraine's defense of its land and its people against Russia's war of aggression." Biden and Scholz will also discuss efforts to prevent regional escalation in the Middle East, "their unwavering support for Israel's right to self-defense and the urgent need for increased life-saving assistance and protection of civilians in Gaza."
