There are certain very simple laws in international relations that if one side—Azerbaijan—has such an advantage, has such allies, and the outside world is more interested in cooperation with that side than with us, then that side will not stop and will go all the way. Arthur Khachikian, Doctor of Political Science at Stanford University, stated this on the air of Strength Factor program of Armenian News-NEWS.am. "Second, if we [i.e. Armenia] had had a normal government, at least at the time when Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] was surrendered [to Azerbaijan]—which was a criminal decision, then we should have received compromises from Azerbaijan in written form. Now Azerbaijan will go all the way, it has all the cards in its hands, they have [natural] gas, oil. Europe wants to collaborate with them, they want to get electricity, they want to create an alternative to Russian energy resources, and they want to create the ‘middle corridor’ in order to create an alternative to all communications through Russian territory and cut off Russia from Iran. "We see that everything is being done in the Middle East as well to include Iran in that great war. We have a major regional war today involving Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel. The USA and Britain are standing with to them. Turkey and Azerbaijan will gain everything from this because everyone needs them. The price of their help is us [i.e. Armenia]. We are the small currency with which they will pay Turkey and Azerbaijan," added Khachikian. According to the political scientist, Russia did this when it allowed Turkey to enter the Caucasus, receiving some promises in the Ukraine war. "However, Russia was deceived there. They [i.e. Russia] had been promised that Sweden and Finland would not become NATO members; [but] they became. They [i.e. Russia] had been promised that they [i.e. the West] would not sell weapons to Ukraine; [but] they are selling," Khachikian emphasized.
