Taking into account that as a result of the border incidents in the Tegh village sector of Syunik [Province], a number of our compatriots could not properly cultivate the plots of the nearby areas, or collect the already cultivated crops; we have separately compensated the people for those crops. Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, stated this at a press conference Friday, summing up their activities in the passing year. "As for the Margara Bridge [on the border with Turkey], we spent almost nothing on the bridge itself. In cooperation with our specialists, we have studied the condition of the bridge and, to our delight, the bridge is in quite good condition, ready to carry permissible loads on it. The only drawback of the bridge is that the bridge is narrow and is for servicing one way; two cars cannot pass at the same time. It can be regulated: they will pass from each side in a certain order. It’s another thing [that] construction work has taken place in the area adjacent to the bridge, certain customs infrastructures have been installed so that when the decisions [to reopen the Armenian-Turkish] start to become reality, the infrastructures on our side will be ready," said Sanosyan.
