Robert Solow, winner of Nobel Prize in economics, dies aged 99

American economist Robert M. Solow, who won a Nobel in economic science in 1987, died on Thursday at his home in Lexington, Massachusetts, The New York Times reported. He was 99. His son John confirmed the death. Solow developed the Solow model of economic growth, the description of which was first published in 1956. In 1987, the economist was awarded the Nobel Prize for his contribution to the theory of economic growth.
