At its Cabinet session Thursday, the government decided to apply a temporary—6-month—ban on the transportation of a number of goods from Armenia to other EAEU member countries and export to third countries. The ban applies to the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as some used products made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Such a ban has been applied since 2022, after which the amount of local production of metal has increased considerably. As a result of the measures taken by the government, investments—including foreign ones—were made in Armenia’s metallurgical industry in 2022 and 2023.
